Developmental Activities

Take time to plan exactly what is needed in the Web site. Thoroughly consider the audience or target market, the purpose , and content.
Establishing and focusing on your requirements
-What do you want your website to be able to do for you?
-Think about the possibilities - even if it is impossible. It is often achievable. You can also consult a Web developer if you encounter technical problems.
-Remain focused on what you are trying to achieve.
Content
-Try to use flow diagrams in planning your Web pages. Make sure the sub pages are easy and logical to find. (See examples in the Image Gallery.)
-Generally, you have 2-3 minutes to captivate a user's interest. Use relevant photographs where necessary. Too many photos can result in long download times.
Graphic Design
-You can get ideas from brochures.
-Be sure your Web site has navigational menu in the same place on each page, so user will not get lost between pages. Be sure to be consistent with your layout and use of fonts.
Domain Name Registration
-This is optional. You will need to purchase a domain name for your Web site so that it can become active on the Internet. (Google and Webs allow you to publish your site on the Internet for free but sometimes with ads material on your Web site.)
Building
-Preview your site from time to time while you are developing it.
Hosting
-Once your site has become completed and you are happy with it, you can publish it online. Google and Webs can be your hosts for the time being. Commercial organizations would usually pay an annual fee for hosting. The storage capacity is bigger and there are no ads on the published Web site (except their own company ads).
Search Engines/Promotion
-This is optional. You can check Google and Webs if they offer this service for free. Usually, you have to think of up to 25 keywords to describe your Web site. These keywords can direct the searcher, using the search engines, to your Web site.
Content Management
-Update your Web site regularly if you want to use it on a long term basis. Otherwise, you can also unpublish it and delete the contents if you do not need it anymore.
